About this item
A bundle of two framed Japanese illustrated calendar prints. Both feature art from a 2020 Japanese wall calendar in a distinctive deep navy and terracotta orange palette.
The two prints:
- A large tropical leaf sheltering a frog from the rain
- A white kitsune seated before a row of torii gates, surrounded by cherry blossoms
Framed in identical narrow black portrait frames, designed to be displayed as a pair.
The kitsune (狐) is Japan’s fox spirit — a shapeshifter and divine messenger who guards Inari shrines; torii gates mark the boundary between the everyday world and the sacred. The frog sheltering under a leaf is a quieter icon: in Japanese folk tradition the kaeru (蛙) symbolises good luck and safe return, its name a homophone of the verb “to return.”
